This saga of astronaut Brad Pitt searching for his long lost astronaut father was billed as this generation’s answer to Kubrick’s 2001. It’s not.
The film looks great – things that were at the limits of film technology in Kubrick’s day can now be done with ease. But Kubrick paid a lot of attention to scientific accuracy – you don’t hear sounds in space, and you can’t use a jet pack to ferry over to your orbiting space vehicle. This movie is science fiction without the science.
The “search for the father” storyline doesn’t work either.
