A major disappointment. Denis Villanueve, the director, is a big fan of the original movie and treated it like it was a sacred object, which has the effect of stopping the story-telling in its tracks. The story itself is fine, but feels too slight for a full-length feature. At 2 hours and 40 minutes, the film is at least an hour too long — maybe two hours. We spend far too much time watching Ryan Gosling staring into space, and far too little with Harrison Ford, who is practically the only good thing about the movie.
